Meet David Grodin

Background and Education

David received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and then his Masters Degree in Finance in 1998. After getting his MBA, David worked 11 years in corporate finance before stepping into the family business, Grodin Financial Services, and working on the personal finances of individuals and businesses.

David has owned several small businesses in the past. That experience gives him an unbeatable combination of real-world experience and the more disciplined learning of a Masters Program. David holds his insurance license, FINRA Series 66 and Series 7 registrations.

Experience

David has built a solid base of individuals and business clients very quickly by taking a hands-on approach to managing client relationships. David prides himself on knowing all about his clients and he frequently checks in with them by phone and email. David believes in long-term relationships so much that he will only work with people who feel the same way.

David prides himself on teaching his clients the proper ways to save money, to help them minimize taxes, and to get multiple uses of their money. David’s clients make all their own decisions. David’s job is simply to identify the weaknesses in their financial state, to create different strategies that the client can choose from, and then to implement the strategies preferred by the client. David does not pressure his clients into making any decisions and often encourages them not to make a decision if the timing is not right. He works hard to do what is right for the clients. His motto is “If it doesn’t substantially improve my client’s position, I won’t put my name on the contract.”

Individual and Business Clients

David works with individuals to create a real retirement plan that can lead up to as many as 11 streams of income at retirement. He creates the plan by rearranging the financial things that his clients are already doing and then determining if additional funding is needed to get the clients to their financial goal.

David works with businesses in the areas of deferred compensation, executive bonus plans and building wealth outside of the business as well as tax reduction strategies.

Recognition

David has been recognized by the San Francisco Bay Area Agency as their Rookie of the Year and was recognized as one of the top five advisors in the entire country for 2007. He is personally sought out by many less experienced advisors to help them get started in the business and to learn all about helping individuals and businesses build more wealth and achieve long term success. David gives of himself tirelessly, helping these individuals build their businesses by going on joint appointments with them and mentoring them through the process.

Personal

On the personal side, David lives with his wife of over 9 years and their two dogs: a Lab, Amber, and a Cardigan Corgie, Chester. David keeps active with daily dog walks and frequent visits to the gym. He also has a wine collection and enjoys seeking out small wineries and sharing his finds with friends.

David attributes his success to Mary Grodin, his mother. She laid the groundwork for the proper planning procedures to use, the office setup and the general financial knowledge that he has gained over the years.
